Day 1:
Hong Kong International airport > Mongkok> Cheung Chau > Lan Kwai Fong
Hello! My dream for 2014 is to travel with family and yes it finally granted. Short escapade to Hong Kong (3D2N) then Okinawa, Japan (5D4N) and back to Hong Kong (2D1N).
|
Bye KK! See u soon... |
|
Can't miss the early sunshine from above 30,000ft |
|
CityFlyer A21 |
As soon as we landed, we took bus A21 to our "hotel" located in the busiest street of HK, Mongkok (旺角). Yes, hell lots of people! Show you why soon. Hong Kong star rated hotels are heaven high price, a HK aunty helped us book this
hotel or I would say motel to be precise which it was just above shops. We took room for 4 as we have 4 person. It took us awhile to locate this hotel, though and we finally saw it and proceed to check in. The ladies working there are friendly and helpful unlike other Hongkees.
THEY ARE RUDE! While checking in, I've contacted my gf who she settled in HK for over a year with her bf came to find us and bring us around HK.
|
First food in HK, wanton noodle! Long queue..be patience |
|
HK Kai Lan with oyster sauce HK$18 |
|
Wanton Noodle Soup KH$26 |
Sorry I forgot to snap the real wanton underneath the noodle. They were using beef broth as the soup base and shrimp inside wanton was just amazingly fresh. There's no way to miss this delicious wanton noodle if you go HK, right? It's tempting! But the portion is too small for big eaters like my dad and brother.

you definitely wont miss this shop as the Q is long |
|
Steamed Egg White with Milk served in cold/hot. HK$20 each |
After delicious meal, what else you're looking for? DESSERT of course and this lovely looking dessert that tasted like egg custard is just right next to Mak Man Kee. Due to the long queue, we decided to take away one hot and one cold of these steamed egg white with milk pudding. The ingredients are obviously egg whites+milk and maybe some secret recipe. I would find a day to make this dessert and share with everyone. This shop is just right next to Mak Man Kee. For my own preference, hot one is better which I find it smoother & milkier and perfect for the weather (17°C).

Cheung Chau most famous cheap seafood compared to HK Island, seaside, small eateries (小吃) and creepy "burning-charcoal suicide". From 2000, a spate of suicide cases took place inside rental holiday homes in the island. No idea why but it's the real thing but it doesn't stop tourists and locals to visit the island.

Winner of the lucky bun (平安包) will have good luck whole year on their believes. This festival held annually on 8th day of 4th month (Lunar Calendar).

back from the island, apple store still packed! |
Back to Hong Kong island and let's have some dinner at one fancy restaurant which served very simple dishes but triple the price outside. Not worth it!
Lan Kwai Fong is just around the corner.

Interesting...sounds naughty..hehe |
After long hours of walk, we headed back to hotel to end our Day 1 in HK. Hope you enjoy my entries! Stay close to me to Day 2 post.
