2014 Hong Kong and Okinawa Trip (Day 5)

Day 5 (11 Dec 2014):

Gyokusendo Cave > Castles of the Ryukyu Kingdom > Naha Main Place > Okinawa Nahana Hotel & Spa

Ohayou gozaimasu! It means good morning in Japanese. The stay in Tokyo Dai-ichi Hotel Okinawa Grand Mer Resort was splendid. Besides the large room with balcony which you can actually step outside as the sliding door is allowed to open unlike other hotels, the bed was comfortable and 2 sets of Japanese-style robe for us to use (I didn't take photo). What I like about Japan is the kindness & well-manners of their citizens. So polite and their tap water is safe to drink. I drank while I shower, we can never do this back in Malaysia. Sigh.

Typical hotel buffet breakfast so skip the photo and we headed to our first destination on day 3 in Okinawa. Before we leave, we spotted something incredible so daddy asked me to take photo of it.
70 of them standing beside the main entrance
sorry blurry pic, was honked by a travel bus! *siam*
First stop, Okinawa National Treasure, Gyokusendo Cave. It is the longest among the many caves in the south of Okinawa Island, and the second longest cave in Japan. Out of its 5 km, only 890 m are open to the public. There are over 1,000,000 stalactites in this cave, the largest number in Japan. It is well maintained, and the walking paths are well lit. The temperature is 21C inside, and the water temperature is 17C all year.

amazing!!!!!!!!!

the flash made me looked pale
stalactites above us with water dripping

we all looked wet

perfect timing water dripped swirls

pass through these (snake alcohol) before exiting...eeeekk!
End of cave expedition, heading to a hotel (we're not staying there) to have our lunch. Entering hotel lobby we found these pretty orchids welcoming us.
This hotel's restaurant is facing the city so I feel luxurious and the menu today was crazy. We ordered 鱼生船, sashimi boat in English (this is self-sponsored, not include in the tour package). Beware, everything is RAW.

chicken & vege grilling on pot...damn it's so nice!

TAADAA!!! salmon, tuna, butterfish, squid, prawn, octopus, lobster, scallops, fish eggs with leaf shape wasabi

On the other hand, my dad's friend, Uncle Rooney ordered fresh abalone. I mean REALLY fresh, it's still attached to it's shell and still moving but of course it will bring to cook. Just to show you how a raw abalone looks like. Watch video below. For longer version, click here.

The chef is so nice to make us this sweet soup by using the lobster's head and it's incredible!

Luxurious lunch is over, now historical place, Castles of the Ryukyu Kingdom where I found it pretty boring. Despite the rainy day, everything else made me sleepy. *yawn*

Nothing much to capture because it's raining and soon after we went shopping at Naha Main Place. Was given time to shop for 3/4 hours and we spent 2 hours in a watch shop and 2 hours in surpermarket. Time flies as we all so sakai to see all Japanese stuffs. Bought 3 Casio G-shock and lots of foods and souvenirs and we end our day after dinner. Shabu-shabu but all they serve was vege and taufu. What you think we are cows?
my baby-G...loving it!!
few slices of beef, that's all..no more
For our last 2 nights, we stayed in this beautiful hotel located in the heart of town.
